The Silver Spokes Cycling Club and Ontario Cycling Association has chosen Sunday, May 20th
as Women’s Day – and is offering a ladies-only ride. All riders are exempt from membership or OCA fees this day, so it’s a great chance to see what group cycling is all about. You can get more ride and contact information here: Ladies Day Ride.
CCN has created a registration link – which leads to more information/ details as well as a waiver for riders to sign. Club members do NOT have to register for this event – but encourage any potential riders to follow this link: Women’s Day Registration
This will be a social ride, with a distance of 35 – 40km. Ramblin’ Road has agreed to open early for the event and will have washrooms available before the ride. We also encourage riders to stay afterwards and have lunch or a drink – and answer any questions they may have. Start time is 10 a.m.
Connect with me if you have any questions. Happy riding!
For the last five years, the first Wednesday in August is when we do our 115 km Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie and back, ride to commemorate Godefridus ( Fred ) Verbakel who was a keen cyclist and did this ride annually with a number of club members and friends just for fun. This year 20 cyclists enjoyed a perfect day weather wise and even a brief attempt by a number of Velo Quebec riders to latch on to our group. Along the way the group had lunch at Barrel pizza in Fort Erie. There was a photo op stop at the Falls and rehydrating at Harp’s Irish pub back in NOTL. Mark the first Wednesday in August on your calendar for next year. Thanks to all the photo contributors,
